Welcome back to Nursery, I hope that you all have had a peaceful start to the New Year. I have had a lovely few days in my new post; everyone has made me feel very welcome!
First and foremost I want to say a big thank you to Kaye Galley who has been acting Head of Centre over the last term and also to Abu Saleh (Family Services Co-ordinator) who has worked closely alongside Kaye. I know both of them worked extremely hard last term to ensure that things ran smoothly and I am really looking forward to working with both of them in both maintaining and further developing our work.
I am really delighted to have been appointed as Head of Centre at Midland Road. I have worked in the Early Years Sector for nearly 30 years now, in lots of different roles but primarily in Education. I have also lived in the Manningham / Heaton area for most of that time and both of my children (who are now 27 and 19!) came to Midland Road Nursery School. At that time I was busy working full-time as a teacher and it was their father who often brought them to and from school. Even though he worked part-time I remember how difficult it was to fit everything in – so I understand and value the importance of having nursery provision that is available full-time and throughout the year.
I also understand the importance of all the family services we provide. The Early Years of children’s lives can be one of the most joyful but also most difficult times; they are certainly the most important. So I am really looking forward to working with you, the staff and Governors to make sure that we give all the children here the best possible start in life.
One date I would like you to put in your diaries if you can is Monday 20th February 9.00 – 1.00 … this will be our first Annual Evaluation Day and we do hope that you will be able to join us and help us celebrate what Midland Road has achieved over the last year and identify what it needs to do to develop in the future. More details to follow!
Finally, please feel free to come and say ‘Hello’ and introduce yourself and your child/children, unless I am in a meeting my door will always be open!!
Kind Regards
Sharon Hogan
Head of Centre
