If you are at School or College

At school

On the basis that you are a parent under the age of 20 at school or sixth-forth college through the Care to Learn scheme you could receive up to £155 a week towards the cost of childcare and associated travel expenses.

The help you receive will not affect any benefits you or your family are currently awarded. You don’t have to be claiming benefits to be eligible either.

At college

This applies to mature students with children who wish to attend college to obtain qualifications or further a career. You may also be able to get help with childcare costs through one of the following;

Learner Support Scheme for further education students. Contact the student support or welfare officer at your local college.
