The childcare rooms have flexible routines, which allow the staff to meet the child’s individual needs and interests. Resources are accessible to children so they have the choice in what they would like to do. Low-level shelving also allows resources to be displayed within reach so children learn individually and with others through play.
Some activities have more staff input e.g. Some creative activities or baking.
Our staff ratio in the 2-3’s room is one to four children. Key workers spend time developing relationships with their children. They offer play opportunities, resources and interactions indoors and outdoors at an appropriate level for individual children and small groups of children. Staff support children in finding ways of coping with their emerging personalities and guiding them in a positive way.
We value the need for children to have the time to settle into their room in a way in which they and their parents feel comfortable; we will support both the parents and the child to settle in within a timescale agreed with parents and your child’s key worker.
We also offer home visits prior to coming in. Once your child starts nursery we know this can be an anxious time for you both so to help your child we suggest that you try not to show your anxiety as children are sensitive to their parent’s reactions. We also suggest that when you arrive to pick up your child you greet your child first and speak to staff once your child is comfortable.
You are invited to call us during the day so that you can be reassured as to how your child’s has settled.
Nappies, wipes and cream for nappy rash.
a change of clothing.

We offer our children a play-based curriculum, which meets all the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and supports all aspects of their learning and development. It supports their inbuilt curiosity and desire to make sense of the world around them and helps them to discover that learning is interesting and fun. This is so important if children are going to remain keen learners for the rest of their lives.
As your child grows, more support will be given to help develop their independence. All of your child’s areas of development are identified, monitored and planned for. You child’s key worker with the support of a senior leader will be responsible for identifying, recording, monitoring and planning for your child’s areas of development. Information is recorded in a profile called – My Learning Journey.
We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children and should be centrally involved in their child's experiences and development so we very much want to share your child’s learning with you. The Learning Journey’s are there for you to read and add in your child’s home experiences.
On collecting your child you’ll be given information about your child’s day.
This can be a confusing time for parent’s i.e. When should they start the process? We will observe your child in nursery and if we notice your child is showing signs of readiness we will discuss with you a plan that involves both yourself and your child’s key worker so that there is a consistent approach at both home and nursery.
We advice parents not to bring in drinks, we will provide water and milk. We do not offer juice within nursery because it has links with tooth decay also children become very reluctant to drink water.
We provide food which reflects your child’s dietary needs, such as Halal, Vegetarian or Traditional. If your child has a medical dietary need this will need to be discussed to accommodate it.
As well a breakfast, lunch and tea we also provide a light healthy snack. All meals provided are nutritionally balanced. Menus are rotated three weekly and new menus provided every term
