Dear Parents and Carers,

Just to remind you the School and Centre closes for Spring Bank Holiday on Friday 23rd May.

The Children’s Centre including Childcare is open from Tuesday 27th May.

School opens on Thursday June 5th 2008

The whole Centre and School is closed for Staff Training on Wednesday 4th June 2008 .

Staff Changes

We’d like to say a big thankyou to Mrs Pauline King Nursery Nurse who has been covering a Maternity leave for Mrs Nurhan Ullah who will be returning after the holidays.

On the 9th June we say goodbye to Mrs Salehah Islam who is leaving after many years with the school. She’s been a huge support to both parents and children and will be greatly missed. We wish her well in her new post.

Events

Play and Language Sessions

Congratulations to parents who have completed this course.

The tutor commented on the enthusiasm of the participants. There will be a longer course in the Autumn Term

Photos

The photographer will be in school on Wednesday 18th June to take class and group photos of the 3-5s and the under 3’s.

Child Safety Week is the week beginning June 23rd

Look out for special activities during this week.

Music Start

Just like Bookstart, Musicstart enables us to give out free resources to children and families to encourage young children’s interest in music. Look out for your pack the week beginning July 7th .

We are also running music making sessions for children and parents this term.

At the end of term a drummer will come and work with us on the 16th of July to celebrate the Musicstart packs. There’ll be a session for adults who’d like to have a go at drumming too.

Barbecue

We’ve also got a barbecue day to look forward to on June 9th.

During the morning children will be able to have a go at using mini barbecues under safe conditions with Phil Lowndes who has worked on the outdoor curriculum with us in the past.

Later on parents will be welcome to come and sample some barbecued goodies. Let’s hope it’s sunny !

Parent’s Forum

We’ve got a good group of parents who are coming to the Forum and who are helping to shape the way we run the School and Centre. The meetings are very informal and last for about an hour. The next meeting is on Monday June 23rd and any parent or centre user is welcome
to join. Please see Parental Involvement Worker Rahima Ali for more info.

Admission Policy and Full Time Provision

The Nursery School Headteachers met with John Gaskin Director of Education Bradford and Chris Whiley Assistant Director for Localities (Children’s and Young People’s Service) to discuss our concerns over the removal of full time places. We were listened to and we think the council and education Bradford have a better understanding of the issues. However no decisions have been made yet.

The Early Years and Childcare Service has thanked parents who sent in the petition re full time provision and the Admission Policy is still under review because of parent’s feedback. We have another meeting arranged with these Directors in July when issues around Government requirements for the funding of Early Years provision across the Private, Voluntary Independent and Maintained sectors are resolved.

Children remaining in our school in September will continue to be offered Full Time provision when available but we cannot guarantee this after March 2009.

HURRAH

Our Childcare provision had an OFSTED inspection at the beginning of the week and it went very well. We’ll be able to let you know the final decision in 2 weeks time.

Enjoy the Spring Bank Holiday.
