Newsletter June / July 2009
Dear Parents and Carers,
The final total for the UNICEF fund raising was £550 so well done everyone.
Portakabin
As you can see we now have a Portacabin on site. This is to provide accommodation for our ever expanding Family Services Team. We hope they’ll be able to move in there shortly.
Visits
We’ve been out and about over the last few weeks. Parents and children in the Loving a New Language class had a great time at the National Media Museum.
Most part time children have visited our lovely local park, Lister Park. The Full time children wrote me a letter asking if we could arrange for them to go. We agreed and they were involved in booking the minibus and deciding on the things to take to help them ‘Stay Safe’. They really enjoyed their visit and the swings seem to be their favourite place.
Challenge College
Parents and children were invited to the Art Room at Challenge College and had interesting morning using clay and paints. They’re going back to finish off their work on Friday.
Impressions Gallery
The Impressions Art Gallery is in Centenary Square. It has great big windows so on our visit children could draw and take photos of all the huge buildings in the City. Next week they’re going out into the countryside to look at very different landscapes.
St Leonard’s Farm Visit
Our Under 3’s visited the farm and saw some ducks
Picnic Lunch
On the 15th July Full time children will be having a picnic lunch outside. Parents are welcome to join us .Either bring your own lunch or order a picnic lunch this week.
Leavers Ceremony
We’ll be holding a Leavers Ceremony on July 16th in the afternoon. We’ll give you more details nearer the date.
Moving On
We have nearly reached the end of this school year and many
children will be moving on to their new schools at the end of term. I would like to take this opportunity to thank families and carers for your support over the past year. Together we have seen your children develop new skills and make progress in all areas of learning and they are now ready to make the transition to “Big School.” We wish them the very best for the future. Please use our questionnaires to let us know your comments and views on your child’s time with us. (available at Reception)
Children who are returning in September will
have a major role in helping the new starters to settle into Nursery, supporting them with routines, showing them how touse resources and making new friends.
We’ll also be saying goodbye to Mrs Heather Stevens Bradford who has been at the school for 20 years. Well done Heather!
In July Rebecca Ramsden from the Under 2’s is taking Maternity Leave so best wishes to her. Leanda Fairburn will be taking on the Early years Practitioner role in that room.
