Happy New Year

January 2010

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back ….and what a start to the New Year!

Apologies to those of you who were inconvenienced by the 2 snow closure days. It’s always difficult to make the decision to close but we have to consider how many staff are able to make the journey and the safety of all users of the school and centre. We requested gritting for Thorncliffe Rd and you can see the response we had on the notice board in the entrance area.

In the event of more severe winter conditions I urge you to listen to Radio Leeds or The Pulse where you can hear lists of school and centre closures. We also leave a message on the answer phone (546492) to alert parents to a closure or late opening.

OFSTED inspection

We have just heard that we are to have an inspection for the School and Childcare on Thursday 28th Jan. and Friday 29th Jan. Please make sure you fill in a Parent Questionnaire to make your comments known to the inspectors.

Building Works

Work is due to start on building a small Conservatory onto the verandah . This will be accessed through the Green Room and will provide a quiet area for children to rest or sleep as well as an additional teaching space. Please be aware that part of the carpark area will be cordoned off to ensure safety whilst the builders work. The work will begin on Monday February 8th. Please be extra vigilant and ensure you hold your child’s hand when walking through the carpark

Under 3’s

The children in the under 3’s will have their own pretend building site in the covered area. Alongside finding out

about staying safe they will be able to use sand and gravel

to mix ‘mortar’ and use blocks to build walls.

3-5’s

This half term we’re helping children find out about their environment starting with finding their way around our building by taking photographs and drawing plans of their journey. Later some children will go to the local shops and library. Parents are welcome to join us on visits to Manningham Library. Don’t forget children can borrow books to take home from the school library every Tuesday.

This term we have 2 teaching students working with the 3-5s, James Wilkinson and Gemma Gill.
